CONNECT Supports MiHIN Onboarding to eHealth Exchange

November 6, 2013

The Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN) recently announced that they have completed the onboarding process with Healtheway to the eHealth Exchange, allowing it to securely exchange health data with other eHealth Exchange participants including the Social Security Administration and Veterans Health Administration. In order to complete the testing, PCE Systems, a Michigan data sharing organization, provided its HIE platform using CONNECT 4.2 to allow the MiHIN Common Gateway to "talk" to the Developer's Integration Lab during the testing process.

This is a major milestone for MiHIN as this marks the first time that a state-designated entity for exchanging health information has completed onboarding to the eHealth Exchange through the new testing and onboarding process guided by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT). It is also the first organization to onboard to the eHealth Exchange using the Consolidated Clinical Document Architecture (C-CDA), a requirement under Stage 2 Meaningful Use regulations.
